It’s back and bigger than ever!!! The Nintendo Connection Tour ’09:Welcome to the Resort, will launch in a Shopping Centre near you. To celebrate the release of Wii Sports Resort, we would like to welcome you to Wuhu Island.  There won’t be a dull moment on Wuhu Island, as visitors will be able to compete in activities such as archery, basketball, ping pong and sword play.  Not only will you be able to experience the fun, but you’ll also see how Wii MotionPlus gives you a realistic, immersive experience on Wii Sports Resort, and other Wii MotionPlus compatible games.

The Nintendo 64 classic Super Smash Bros., the fighting game that spawned one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises is now available for download on the Wii Shop Channel.

Nintendo announces that Wii Fit™ has sold through more than 520,000* units in Australia, only one year since launch! This makes Wii Fit the fastest selling console game to sell through more than 500,000 units.

Independent market research group GfK Retail and Technology Australia, confirm that the only console game that has sold more than this is Wii Play™ with 569,000 copies. Mario Kart™ Wii follows closely with 328,000 copies sold.

Coinciding with Mother’s Day, last week alone (week 19), Wii Fit sold through more than 29,000 copies in Australia!

Wii Fit, which launched in Australia on 8 May 2008 is an innovative and fun way to work out and have fun in the comfort of your own home. By using the Wii Balance Board, players can weigh themselves, check their BMI (Body Mass Index), choose from more than 40 exercises and play a variety of games.

Pokémon Platinum Version comes to Nintendo DS, 14 May.

This new game in the storied franchise brings a host of new features, including the mysterious new Distortion World, never-seen-before forms of powerful Pokémon, and exciting online games in the new Wi-Fi Plaza.

Those that are familiar with the Pokémon franchise will enjoy the strategic battles that are the hallmark of the main Pokémon game series, and whether you have played Pokémon countless times before, or are new to the franchise, there is something for everyone.

Never before have Pokémon players witnessed the unusual Distortion World! This mysterious realm is home to the Legendary Giratina and is central to the new storyline in the game. The Distortion World is a strange place where the normal rules of time and space no longer apply. The new Wi-Fi Plaza allows up to 20 players, with wireless broadband access, from anywhere in the world to connect and play mini-games, take part in parades and even see a fireworks show! The Nintendo DSi has launched in Australia and New Zealand.

To celebrate the first Nintendo DSi launch outside of Japan, Nintendo and EB Games held a launch event at The Nintendo Experience at EB Games, Swanston St Melbourne.
Hundreds of eager customers attended to become the first in Australia to get their Nintendo DSi as they went on sale at 11pm.

The launch of the Nintendo DSi in Australia and New Zealand also see’s the launch of DSiWare.

Access a world of new possibilities with Nintendo DSiWare. Available through the Nintendo DSi Shop, download exclusive content. The Nintendo DSi Browser can be downloaded for free, while other content can be purchased from the Nintendo DSi Shop in exchange for Nintendo Points.

The following games and applications are available for download now:

• Nintendo DSi Browser: a free download that means Nintendo DSi users will be able to browse the internet to their heart’s content

• WarioWare: Snapped!: WarioWare: Snapped! games use the Nintendo DSi’s inner camera to add to the gameplay.  Using the camera’s ability to detect motion, players must complete wacky and fun tasks within a set time limit by moving their hands and faces in front of the screen.  Players have to work out the tasks they must complete based on clues at the start of each game.

• Paper Plane: a simple – but utterly addictive – action game in which players have to guide their paper aircraft through mazes that get ever-harder to navigate

• Pyoro: take control of Pyoro – a cute bird – as he tries to catch the fruit that falls from the top of the screen with his tongue! Player’s find that if fruit hits the ground, a hole is made and Pyoro has an ever-shrinking area in which to move.  But be careful … a piece of fruit landing on Pyoro’s head will mean that your game is over!

• Art Style: AQUITE - fun & challenging mini game that is perfect to play on the go, your aim is to help a little diver reach the bottom of the ocean, but getting to the bottom is more challenging than you may think!

• Art Style: CODE – holding the Nintendo DSi sideways, like an open book the goal is to switch around and rearrange digits, then to add digits together so that they add up to 10. Once selected, the digits adding up to 10 will all disappear. Different modes play variations on this simple, yet addictive rule to ensure hours of number crunching fun!
